How CCW class reservations work

Pick an open date below, confirm the seat in checkout, and you receive an instant email confirmation plus a calendar entry. The CCW class fills first-come first-served and most weekend dates are gone two to three weeks out — booking early is recommended.

The CCW class fee is $320 per student and covers all 16 hours of state-mandated SB 2 training, the live-fire qualification fee, B-27 targets, and the course-completion certificate you submit with your El Dorado County Sheriff CCW application.

What's included in the CCW class

Two full days. Day one is classroom: California firearms law, permissible use of force, safe storage, mental health resources, and de-escalation — the full SB 2 curriculum that took effect January 1, 2024. Day two is live-fire qualification at the Hangtown Range indoor range — 3, 7, and 10-yard distances with B-27 silhouette targets; pass requires 80% hits. Bring up to 5 firearms to list on your permit. Course-completion certificate issued on-site at the end of day two.

Who can book this CCW class

California residents 21+ with valid government ID, no felony convictions, no domestic violence restraining orders, and no mental health prohibitions under California law. Most students are El Dorado County applicants (Placerville, El Dorado Hills, Cameron Park, Shingle Springs, Diamond Springs, Pollock Pines), but the class also serves applicants from Folsom, Auburn, and surrounding Sacramento-area counties. What to bring on CCW class day

Valid California ID, your firearms (up to 5 you intend to list on the permit), 100 rounds of factory ammunition appropriate for each firearm, a quality belt-mounted holster that fully covers the trigger guard, eye and ear protection (rentals available at the range), and a notebook. Ammunition is available for purchase on-site if you forget; rentals are available for eye/ear protection.
