Pick an open date below, confirm the seat in checkout, and you receive an instant email confirmation plus a calendar entry. The CCW gun add-on class runs 1 hour and is offered in afternoon slots throughout the month. The 1-hour format means you can fit the class into a workday and walk out with your class-completion certificate the same hour.
The class fee is $50 per student and covers the live-fire qualification, B-27 targets, scoring, and the class-completion certificate you submit to the El Dorado County Sheriff to add a firearm to your permit or to renew an existing firearm qualification.
One 1-hour live-fire class at the Hangtown Range indoor range. Brief safety review, then qualification shooting at 3, 7, and 10-yard distances on a B-27 silhouette target — 80% hits required to pass. Each firearm is qualified separately, so the more firearms you bring (up to 5 on the permit), the longer the session takes. Certified instructor scores in real time. Class-completion certificate issued on-site at the end of the session, ready to submit with your add-firearm or renewal paperwork to the Sheriff.
California residents with an existing California CCW permit (initial or renewed). Most students are El Dorado County permit holders adding a firearm purchased since their initial application, or requalifying ahead of a renewal cycle. The class is also a fit for permit holders from Sacramento, Folsom, Auburn, and surrounding counties whose Sheriff requires a fresh live-fire qualification certificate. If you have never held a CCW permit, you need the initial CCW Class first — this 1-hour class is not a substitute.
Your current California CCW permit, valid California ID, the firearm(s) you want to add or requalify (up to 5), 100 rounds of factory ammunition per firearm, a quality belt-mounted holster that fully covers the trigger guard, eye and ear protection (rentals available), and a notebook. Ammunition is available for purchase on-site if you forget. No rental firearms allowed for the qualification — you must qualify with the firearm being added to your permit.
