Add a firearm to your permit or requalify with official scoring
Already hold a California CCW permit? Add a new firearm to your permit or requalify to keep an existing one current. Both paths use the same live-fire scoring protocol — 30 rounds at 3, 7, and 10 yards with an 80% hit-rate minimum. Our certified instructors provide professional guidance and immediate certification upon successful completion.
Qualification Standards
Must achieve 80% hit rate in vital zones (7-ring or higher) on B-27 silhouette targets at standard distances.
Duration
2-3 hours total. Includes setup, instruction, shooting rounds, and scoring.
Valid For
CCW initial permit or renewal application. Certificate valid for 12 months from test date.

Qualify with each firearm you intend to carry. Can test up to 5 firearms per session.

What to Bring & Know
Firearms

Important: Ammunition and firearms must be ready for inspection at check-in. No rental firearms allowed for qualification testing.
Test Process
Step-by-step qualification flow
1. Check-In & Safety Brief
Review safety rules, range procedures, and qualification requirements. Inspector verifies firearms and ammunition.
2. Preliminary Instruction
Certified instructor reviews shooting techniques, stance, sight picture, and trigger control.
3. Practice Rounds
Unlimited practice rounds at 3, 7, and 10-yard distances to familiarize with your firearms.
4. Qualification Shooting
Official shooting sequence: 10 rounds at 3 yards, 10 at 7 yards, 10 at 10 yards per firearm.
5. Scoring & Certification
Targets scored immediately. Pass with 80% hit rate (24 of 30 rounds). Certificate issued on-site.

Did Not Pass on First Attempt?
Not everyone passes on their first attempt—that's normal! We offer retesting opportunities at a reduced fee. Many students benefit from additional practice time and return for successful certification.
